Study Guide For Hunting The White Cow

Topics For Discussion: The book is written in a dialect of the South. Can the children speak or imitate that dialect? Discuss different ways people speak. Can any of the children describe how different people they have met speak? Can anyone speak in an English, French, or Spanish accent? Practice saying, "Y'alls white cow is in Wilson's tobacco patch."

What are the different "calls" the children use for their animals at home? Did any of the children ever lose an animal? Was it found? Did any of the children ever have a different idea than someone else on how to solve a problem? Have any of them ever done something really difficult and kept it a secret?

How do they think the little girl's approach to animals was different than the "men folk's?" Did the white cow want to be caught by the young girl?
