When Chickens Grow Teeth
Story by: Guy de Maupassant
Illustrations by: Wendy Anderson Halperin
In this translation of a French tale by Guy de Maupassant, the first book I both wrote and illustrated, Toine is bedridden with an aching back. He has fallen from a ladder and cannot get up. Bellow he does, and for the well-wishers who come to call, he tries his usual jokes, even though his overworked wife is forcing him to hatch chicken eggs underneath his arms!
